Japan 2 Days Kyoto Itinerary

by - 24 June

Checked in to Parkside Umekoji Guesthouse in Kyoto! Booked a double studio from Agoda for 3 nights ($102.08/night). The room is pretty spacious, has a balcony (!!) and the mini bathtub in the bathroom have a tv (cool!!)
The only thing about this guesthouse is it is a little far off from Kyoto Station. It takes about 10-15mins to walk but you can actually take a bus (1 stop ¥230) if you're lazy!!

Day 3 (Kiyomizudera, Gion & Inari Area)
When you're in Japan, Kimono rental is a must! Initially when I was googling around on the different kimono rental shops, all the prices are pretty steep! (~SGD$40-$60/pax). But lucky me, I chanced upon this pretty affordable kimono rental shop! (https://kyotokimono-rental.com/en/petit)

& I saw that there's discount for student price! We made a reservation & paid online (¥1944 - SGD$24.75/pax) for the kimonos and went over at 9:30am for our 10am fitting! There have a few outlets but we booked ours at Kyoto Station. & there's a lot of designs to choose from (I had a hard time choosing mine)

I was quite upset that day as it was a rainy day & I was so excited about wearing kimono and exploring all the places. But luckily, the rain wasn't that big & our guesthouse have several umbrellas to loan us ^^

We then took a bus to Kiyomizudera Temple (Bus 100/206) from Kyoto Station. After alighting, you'll have to walk up-hill for another 5-10mins (Just follow the crowd & you'll be there!!)

KIYOMIZUDERA & GION-AREA

We spent around 3-4 hours walking around this area.
From Kiyomizu-dera -> Sannenzaka & Ninensaka -> Higashiyama -> Gion & Yasaka Shrine

We did not pay the entrance price into Kiyomizu-dera Temple mainly because it is still under renovation (May 2018) & the view wasn't that superb compared to cherry blossom/autumn/winter seasons (all the post-cards/google images are so pretty!! Will definitely come back here again)

FUSHIMI INARI SHRINE

After exploring around the area, we made our way from Gion-Shijo Station to Fushimiinari Station! (¥210 for the train ticket)

There's a few thousands shrines and don't worry about not being able to take a nice picture with nobody in the background. The trick is to walk further in (where there's lesser crowd) & you'll get your insta-worthy shots! (Don't bother trying to take pictures when you first enter the shrine area)

That marks our day & we head back to Kyoto station to return our kimonos at 5:30pm and search for food around the area before heading back to our guesthouse.

*It's super tiring to walk around in kimonos btw 😅

Day 4 (Arashiyama Area)
Nishiki market (Shijo station on the Karasuma Subway Line)
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove/Forest
Tenyru-Ji Shrine??
Adashino Nenbutsu-ji, Seiryo-ji, Jojakko-ji, Nison-in

Togetsukyo Bridge

15mins away from Kyoto station - Ginjo Ramen Kubota (really unique dipping ramen)!!
